2. About the cause of hematuria

It is more common in children with acute nephritis and bladder congestion. Red urine is hematuria. First of all, we should find out whether it is true hematuria or false hematuria. For example, vaginal, uterine, menstrual bleeding and hemorrhoidal bleeding can be mixed in the urine, and blood cells may be found in the urine test. There are other reasons why urine may be bloody, such as hemoglobinuria, porphyria, antipyrine, rhubarb, Congo red, phenolsulfonphthalein, rifampicin, etc. There are no red blood cells in these red urines, so these are not hematuria.

Bacterial infections, tuberculosis, stones, and nephritis are more common in adolescents or middle-aged people. Painless hematuria in people over 40 years old should be considered as a tumor or inflammation. Men should consider prostate disease. Accompanying symptoms can also indicate some problems: if accompanied by edema and high blood pressure, kidney disease may be considered. Hematuria accompanied by a kidney mass should raise the possibility of a kidney tumor.

Hematuria and urinary incontinence should be checked for filariasis, and chyluria caused by compression of the mass should also be considered. In general, as long as there is hematuria, you should be examined and take it seriously.

3. Symptoms of red urine

3.1. If infants and young children have hematuria accompanied by deafness, eye diseases or deformities in other parts of the body, it is necessary to consider whether the kidneys are also deformed.

3.2. Hematuria accompanied by decreased urine volume, facial edema, hypertension and low back pain may be acute or chronic glomerulonephritis.

3.3. Hematuria is accompanied by an increase in the frequency of urination, and there is always a feeling of heaviness in the lower abdomen as if one has not finished urinating, or urethral pain when urinating, indicating inflammation of the urethra or bladder.

3.4. If a child has hematuria and has difficulty urinating and unbearable pain, he may have urinary stones.

3.5. If in addition to hematuria there are also skin bleeding spots, bleeding in the nose, gums and other parts of the body, be alert to hemorrhagic diseases such as thrombocytopenic purpura, aplastic anemia, acute leukemia, hemophilia, etc.

3.6. If hematuria is accompanied by fever, general discomfort, and mental depression, the possibility of systemic infectious disease should be considered.

3.7. If the child’s parents or relatives have kidney disease, be alert to the possibility of hereditary nephritis if the child has hematuria.

How to treat red urine in children

1. Boil 120-250 grams of fresh Imperata root in water and drink it as tea.

2. Take 30g each of Imperata root, Motherwort and Plantain, decoct and take one dose daily.

3. Take 30g of Centella asiatica, 10g of Lycopodiella cernua, 15g each of Achyranthes bidentata and Callicarpa ovata, decoct and take one dose daily. Suitable for hematuria caused by urinary stones.

4. 30g each of fresh thistle and small thistle, 30g of fresh Houttuynia cordata (reduce the dosage by half for dry product). Take 1 dose per day, decocted and taken orally. Or wash it with cold boiled water, mash it and drink the juice. Suitable for hematuria caused by urinary tract infection.

5. Take 15g of raw rehmannia, 10g of moutan bark charcoal, 30g each of radix rehmanniae and herba ecliptae, decoct and take one dose daily. Suitable for hematuria caused by renal tuberculosis.
