What is peripheral neuropathy?

Diseases are very common. There are many types of diseases in life. Colds, chest tightness, and stomach upset are all very common problems. These diseases require different treatments. The treatment time for these diseases is not very long, so when treating these diseases, there is no need to worry about whether long-term treatment will be required. However, some complex diseases require long-term treatment, such as peripheral neuropathy.

Many people are not very clear about this type of disease. This type of disease is quite harmful to human health, and this type of disease requires good methods to treat. However, it should be noted that the treatment of peripheral neuropathy also requires an understanding of this disease.

Peripheral Neuropathy:

Peripheral nerves refer to cranial nerves, spinal nerves, autonomic nerves and their ganglia other than olfactory and optic nerves. Peripheral neurology refers to diseases that occur primarily due to structural or functional damage to the peripheral nervous system.

Physiological anatomy

Peripheral nerves are functionally divided into two parts: sensory afferent and motor efferent. The former is composed of the dorsal roots of the spinal nerves, the dorsal root ganglia and the cranial sensory nerves.

Peripheral nerve fibers can be divided into two types: myelinated and unmyelinated.

Nerve fibers are the basic building blocks of peripheral nerve structures. Many nerve fibers are gathered into nerve bundles, and several nerve bundles form nerve trunks.

Common diseases

Cranial nerve diseases: trigeminal neuralgia, idiopathic facial nerve palsy, hemifacial spasm, multiple cranial nerve damage; spinal nerve diseases: mononeuropathy and neuralgia, polyneuropathy, acute inflammatory demyelinating polyneuropathy, chronic inflammatory demyelinating polyneuropathy.

Through the above introduction, we have a good understanding of peripheral neuropathy. In the treatment of this type of disease, medication is a commonly used method. However, the choice of medication is different for different patient conditions. Therefore, when treating such diseases, we also choose medication according to the doctor's advice, otherwise it will not be conducive to the improvement of the disease.
