What causes eye pain?

What causes eye pain? In fact, there are many reasons that can cause eye pain. Many of my friends face computers every day at work and stare at computer screens for a long time. This situation can easily cause eye pain. This is also the most common cause of eye pain. If your eyes are tired, you can take a proper rest, look at something far away, relax your mind, and you will feel much better.

There are also some diseases that can cause eye pain, such as dry eyes and other eye diseases, which make the eyes lack tears, causing the eyes to be dry for a long time, which can easily cause eye stinging. In this case, you need to seek medical attention in time and use symptomatic medication. While taking medication, try to avoid doing things that may irritate the eyes, such as using the computer and watching TV, so that the eyes have time to rest and recover, so that they can recover as soon as possible.

How to diagnose eye pain

The eyes may sting for no apparent reason, and a diagnosis can be made based on the clinical manifestations.

3What symptoms can easily be confused with eye stinging?

Eye pain is often accompanied by other eye symptoms, and a detailed medical history should be taken. Pay attention to the location and nature of the eye pain. For example, the pain of corneal lesions is abrasive, like the feeling of having sand in the eyes, and is accompanied by irritation symptoms. The eye pain of acute iridocyclitis is characterized by eye soreness and pain, accompanied by ipsilateral migraine and obvious tenderness in the ciliary area. The eye pain of acute angle-closure glaucoma is severe swelling and pain in the eyeball, accompanied by ipsilateral migraine, as well as visual impairment, halo vision, foggy vision, nausea and vomiting, etc. Retrobulbar neuritis is deep eye pain, dull pain behind the eye when the eye moves or when the eye is pressed. Supraorbital neuralgia causes severe pain, which is worse at night, and there is an obvious tenderness point at the supraorbital notch. When there is refractive error or accommodation fatigue, eye pain is mostly related to looking at close objects and will improve after closing your eyes and resting. Panophthalmitis, orbital cellulitis, etc. are characterized by swelling and pain in the entire eye and orbit, pain when the eye moves, accompanied by severe headache and systemic acute infection symptoms. Eye pain is often a main symptom of patients with eye diseases. Many lesions of the eyeball and its appendages can cause significant eye pain. Due to different diseases, the location and nature of the pain are also different, so it must be combined with other physical signs for further diagnosis.

How to prevent eye stinging?

The following points should be noted for prevention:

(1) Live a normal lifestyle, get enough sleep, and don’t stay up late;

(2) Eat a balanced diet and do not be picky eaters; eat more vegetables and fruits containing vitamins A, C, and E, and eat less fried foods;

(3) Give your eyes adequate rest, avoid prolonged use of the eyes, excessive fatigue, and pay attention to the number of times you blink;

(4) When washing your face, pay attention to the cleanliness of your eyelids and eyelashes. Using a hot towel for hot compresses can relieve fatigue and increase tear secretion.
