Prevention of Nosebleeds

Prevention of Nosebleeds

We also call nosebleed epistaxis. There are many factors that cause nosebleed. We generally divide the causes of nosebleed into two categories, one is local factors and the other is systemic factors. We don’t need to worry too much about occasional nosebleeds. As long as we find out the cause, we can make targeted treatments. However, if nosebleeds occur frequently, we must learn how to prevent them.

To prevent nosebleeds, we need to do many things well. Nosebleeds are closely related to the environment, so our room should be clean and the humidity should be appropriate. In addition, we should eat easily digestible food and eat more fruits and vegetables.

Blood flowing out of the anterior or posterior nostril is called epistaxis, also known as nosebleed. Epistaxis is a common emergency. Can occur at any age. The severity of bleeding is related to the bleeding speed and amount. Sometimes the bleeding is not much, but the patient panics and becomes nervous when seeing blood flowing out of the nostrils, which can aggravate the condition.

Things you should pay attention to in preventing nasal bleeding:

1. Keep the room quiet, clean and at a suitable temperature. Keep the indoor air fresh, open windows for ventilation as appropriate, and the temperature should be maintained between 18 and 20 degrees Celsius. Because overly dry air can induce nasal bleeding, the air humidity should be ≥ 60%.

2. The elderly should move slowly during daily activities, avoid blowing their noses hard, and stop coughing symptomatically.

3. Eat some easily digestible soft food, eat more fruits and vegetables, avoid spicy and irritating food, and keep the bowels open. Those with constipation can be given laxatives.

4. Elderly patients with epistaxis are often accompanied by hypertension, coronary heart disease, bronchitis, etc. They should regularly prevent and treat the primary disease and must carry out appropriate treatment according to the cause. Especially for patients with hypertension, blood pressure must be controlled to normal or near-normal levels as soon as possible, changes in the condition must be observed, and go to the hospital in time for treatment.

5. For children with epistaxis, bad habits that can easily cause mucosal damage, such as picking the nose, rubbing the nose, and placing foreign objects out of curiosity, should be corrected.

Above we introduced what nosebleed is. We know that nosebleed is also called epistaxis. There are many causes of nosebleed, so we must distinguish the causes when treating nosebleed. Nosebleed can be prevented, but there are many things we need to do to prevent nosebleed. The above article introduces the prevention of nosebleed in detail.
