Traumatic oral ulcers, pay attention to lifestyle adjustments!

Traumatic oral ulcers are ulcers caused by chronic mechanical injuries, which are related to people's own factors and are mostly caused by accidental bites. For traumatic oral ulcers, you must pay attention to oral hygiene. At the same time, lifestyle adjustments are also very important, and you must ensure adequate sleep.

1. Prevention

(1) Lifestyle adjustment. Ensure adequate sleep, avoid fatigue, tension, and excessive brain use; keep your mouth clean 2 to 3 times a day. The bristles of the toothbrush used should not be too hard to avoid damaging the oral mucosa. Persistently gargling with strong green tea can promote the healing of oral ulcers.

(2) Mental care. Keep a happy mood, cheerful temperament, relaxed physically and mentally, and treat daily work and illness correctly.

(3)Diet adjustment. Encourage eating and drinking, eat regularly, and chew slowly. Supplement vitamins and various trace elements needed by the human body in appropriate amounts, eat more vegetables and fruits, eat more protein-rich foods, avoid irritating diets, and avoid fried, baked, and spicy foods. Stop smoking and drinking during the illness.

2. Reasons

(1) Persistent mechanical stimulation, such as residual crowns, residual roots, sharp edges, sharp tooth tips, and poor restorations caused by caries in the oral cavity.

(2) Non-persistent mechanical stimulation factors such as stimulation from hard and brittle foods, accidental bites while chewing, injuries from brushing, improper use of instruments by dentists during diagnosis and treatment, etc., can all cause trauma to the mucosa and form ulcers.

3. Features

It is more common in adults, especially the elderly. The lesions are mostly located at the site of contact or proximity to the irritant. In the early stage, the membrane becomes red at the site of stimulation, and severe stimulation may lead to ulcer formation. The ulcer's shape matches the shape of the irritant. Long-term stimulation will form deep ulcers with slightly raised edges, a sunken center, and a yellow-white pseudomembrane on the surface. The ulcer is not painful. Once the local mechanical stimulation is removed, the ulcer will disappear quickly.
