How to differentiate between eczema and neck rash?

How to differentiate between eczema and neck rash?

Many friends confuse eczema and neck sweat. The main cause of neck sweat is the accumulation of sweat in the wrinkles of the neck skin, which causes discomfort. Eczema is a disease that can occur on the skin all over the body. The main symptoms are redness, swelling and itching. In severe cases, patients will constantly scratch the affected area, causing damage.

Is the neck irritation caused by eczema?

Flooding the neck is not eczema, but flooding the neck may trigger eczema. Flooded neck is caused by the accumulation of sweat and moisture in the wrinkles of the neck skin, which is difficult to dissipate heat, causing congestion, peeling, and erosion. Eczema is an allergic skin disease, which is commonly known as an allergic skin disease. The main cause is intolerance or allergy to ingested, inhaled or contacted substances. So, essentially, neck rash is not the same as eczema.

However, if the baby has neck irritation and the parents do not deal with it in time, the baby's neck skin will be repeatedly irritated and the skin will not be able to tolerate it, which may induce eczema.

What's wrong with drowning the neck?

Irritation caused by dirt

Babies lie down for a long time, and sweat, milk, saliva, etc. can easily accumulate in their necks. Babies' skin wrinkles are relatively deep, and if these impurities are not cleaned in time over time, they will accumulate in the skin wrinkles. Babies' skin is very delicate, and a little stimulation will cause redness or even erosion of the skin, resulting in neck drowning.

Caused by skin rubbing against each other

Neck drowning is more common in obese babies. Because of obesity, there is too much fat accumulated in the neck, which leads to many wrinkles on the neck, making it easy for sweat and moisture to accumulate, and local heat cannot be dissipated. The skin that is in contact with each other rubs against each other, causing local congestion, erosion, epidermal exfoliation, and even exudation or suppurative infection.

How to distinguish between neck rash and eczema

The biggest difference between neck rash and eczema is that eczema is extremely itchy and the baby will scratch his neck unconsciously, while neck rash will not itch but will only turn red, peel or erode. The baby will feel pain and be prone to crying.

Characteristics of drowned neck: redness, erosion, pain and other symptoms in the wrinkled area of the skin.

Characteristics of eczema: Initially, there are scattered or clustered small red papules or erythema, which gradually increase in number and small blisters, yellow-white scales and crusts can be seen. There may be exudation, erosion and secondary infection. The itching sensation is obvious, and the child is often irritable and restless, constantly rubbing and scratching.
