Infertility Chinese Medicine

Infertility Chinese Medicine

When Chinese medicine treats diseases, the most important thing is some pharmacological knowledge. The drugs used to treat diseases are generally Chinese herbal ingredients. Chinese herbal medicine does not contain any hormones, so the drug reaction is relatively mild after the patient takes it. It pays more attention to the patient's disease conditioning. Infertility can also be treated by Chinese medicine. So how does Chinese medicine treat infertility?

Kidneys govern reproduction, and infertility is closely related to the kidneys. It is also related to dysfunction of the Tiangui, Chongren, and uterus, or disharmony of qi and blood in the internal organs, which affects the function of the cell vessels and network. Common clinical symptoms include kidney deficiency, liver depression, phlegm and dampness, and blood stasis.

1. Kidney deficiency is caused by insufficient kidney qi and yang deficiency which cannot warm the uterus, resulting in a cold and empty uterus and inability to capture sperm and achieve pregnancy. Either due to insufficient essence and blood, deficiency of Chong and Ren meridians, malnutrition of uterine vessels, pregnancy cannot occur; or due to yin deficiency and excessive fire, accumulation of heat in the blood sea, pregnancy cannot occur.

2. Liver depression leads to poor emotional state, stagnation of liver qi, disorder of qi and blood secretion, incompatibility of Chong and Ren meridians, and inability to support each other, resulting in infertility.

3. People with phlegm-damp constitution are obese, or eat too much rich and greasy food, which will cause spleen deficiency and dysfunction, internal generation of phlegm and dampness, poor flow of Qi, obstruction of uterine vessels, and inability to retain semen and achieve pregnancy.

4. Blood stasis during menstruation and after childbirth, the remaining blood has not been cleared, and the patient is more affected by cold evil, which causes blood stasis and blockage of the uterine vessels, making it impossible for the two sperms to combine, resulting in infertility.

If a couple has been married for more than two years, or has been pregnant for more than two years, and has been living together, with normal reproductive function of the spouse, but has not conceived without taking any contraceptive measures, they can be diagnosed with infertility. When making a diagnosis, the patient should be asked about the medical history in detail, such as menstrual history, marital history, leucorrhea history, sexual history, etc. Gynecological examination, fallopian tube patency test, ovarian function test, male semen examination, etc. should also be performed to assist in diagnosis. Delayed menarche, less menstruation in the late period, and frequent back pain and weak legs are mostly symptoms of kidney deficiency; chest tightness, irritability, and depression are mostly symptoms of liver depression; obesity is mostly symptoms of phlegm and dampness; lower abdominal pain and less menstrual flow are mostly symptoms of blood stasis. In addition to targeting each syndrome, treatment should also focus on clearing the mind and reducing desires; choosing the right time to balance yin and yang to facilitate pregnancy.

1. Kidney Yang Deficiency

Main symptoms: infertility after a long marriage, late menstruation, scanty and light menstruation, or infrequent menstruation or amenorrhea. Dull complexion, sore waist and weak legs, lack of libido, clear and long urine, and loose stools. The tongue is pale with white coating, and the pulse is deep and slow.

Symptom analysis: Kidney deficiency leads to lack of nourishment for Chong and Ren meridians, and the sea of blood is not complete, so there is infertility after a long marriage, late menstruation, less menstruation, lighter color, or infrequent menstruation or amenorrhea. The waist is the home of the kidneys. When the kidney yang is insufficient, the fire of the life gate is weakened, so the complexion is dull, the waist and legs are weak, and the sexual desire is dull. When the kidney yang is weak and cannot warm the spleen yang above or warm the bladder below, the stool will be loose and the urine will be clear and long. A pale tongue with white coating and a deep, thin or slow pulse are all signs of kidney yang deficiency.
