What is rose rash commonly known as?

Pityriasis rosea, also commonly known as plum blossom rash, is a relatively common skin disease. Its manifestation is that the skin appears rosy. The skin symptoms are higher than normal skin. There are many causes, including infection, the most common of which are fungal infection and bacterial infection. It often causes allergic reactions, causing patients to experience symptoms such as itching and desquamation. When pityriasis rosea occurs, it must be treated in time.

Causes of rash

There is no clear conclusion on the cause of pityriasis rosea clinically. There are many hypotheses, including infection (fungal, bacterial, viral), allergic reaction, etc. Many scholars have suggested that this disease is likely caused by viral infection, but there is no definite evidence yet. The more authoritative view is that pityriasis rosea is an immune system disease, which is caused by the production of specific antibodies in the body. The antibodies and antigens work together to show symptoms such as bran-like rashes, desquamation, and itching.

Rash symptoms

Pityriasis rosea is more common in spring and autumn, with a higher incidence in young and middle-aged people, slightly more in women than in men. The disease first occurs as a round, light pink spot that appears on the trunk, which is called the "mother spot." The maternal spot continues to expand and may even reach the size of an egg. Later, smaller red spots will appear on the trunk, often spreading to the neck and proximal limbs. It generally does not occur on the face and calves.

The rash appears in batches, so rose, yellow-red, yellow-brown, and light brown rashes can be seen on the patient at the same time. Most people do not feel obvious symptoms, but some feel itchy, with varying degrees of itching. Some individuals have systemic symptoms such as low-grade fever, headache, general malaise, sore throat, joint pain or swollen lymph nodes.

Rash Treatment

1. Symptomatic treatment: anti-allergic, antipruritic. 2. Drug treatment: vitamins (B1, B6, B2), antibiotics (penicillin, cefotaxime IV, VI), antihistamines and other drugs. 3. Physical therapy: ultraviolet therapy, laser therapy.

Pityriasis rosea, also known as plum blossom rash, is related to viral infection and the body's own immune disorder. Because the above factors cause stress-induced inflammatory lesions on the skin, symptoms of red plaques and papules appear.

If the above symptoms occur, systematic treatment is needed for better improvement. You should avoid spicy and stimulating seafood and barbecue, eat a light diet, eat more fruits and vegetables, avoid staying up late, and take oral anti-allergic, antihistamine, antiviral, and immune-regulating drugs. You can take oral loratadine tablets, compound glycyrrhizin capsules, calcium gluconate, topical calamine lotion, tacrolimus or Pi Duqing ointment, and take oral antiviral granules or Pueraria lobata anti-inflammatory oral liquid to effectively relieve the symptoms.
