How to take care of your body during menopause

When women reach around 50 years old, they will gradually enter menopause. During menopause, women's physical fitness will decline and they will be prone to certain psychological problems. At this time, they must pay attention to conditioning their bodies to avoid negative effects on their health. They must pay attention to dietary adjustments, exercise moderately, communicate more with family and friends, and vent some negative emotions.

How to take care of your body during menopause

1. Don’t eat too much sugar

Eating too much sugar can cause obesity. You can eat more complex carbohydrates, such as starch, millet, etc.

2. Eat a light diet

Limit salt intake to less than 6 grams per day. Because menopause is often prone to hypertension and arteriosclerosis, and table salt contains a large amount of sodium ions, eating too much salt can increase the burden on the heart and increase blood viscosity, thereby raising blood pressure.

3. Eat more fresh green vegetables and fruits

Especially vegetables and fruits rich in carotene, inorganic salts and fiber, such as Chinese cabbage, celery, jujube, hawthorn, etc., can increase the toughness of blood vessels, promote the elimination of blood cholesterol, and prevent atherosclerosis and coronary heart disease.

4. Choose foods rich in calcium

Milk and soy products are good sources of calcium. Other foods high in calcium include: dried shrimp skin, kelp, seaweed, crispy fish, oysters, seaweed, sesame paste, etc., which can prevent osteoporosis.

5. Avoid smoking and drinking

The stimulation of alcohol and nicotine can cause abnormal changes in blood pressure and mental aspects. Therefore, menopausal women should not drink alcohol or smoke, and should also drink less coffee, tea, etc.

6. Don’t eat too much

For menopausal women, if they eat too much, it is easy for them to have stomach bloating and pain, cause sweating, and cause hot flashes. Therefore, menopausal women should not eat too much, which can reduce the frequency of hot flashes.

7. Keep your bowels open

People with constipation can eat more foods high in fiber, such as beans, celery, potatoes, etc. In addition, fiber can inhibit the absorption of cholesterol, thereby significantly lowering serum cholesterol and thus preventing arteriosclerosis.

8. Supplement protein in moderation

As the gonads degenerate during menopause, other tissues and organs also gradually degenerate. Therefore, high-quality protein should be selected in the diet, such as milk, eggs, lean meat, fish, poultry and soy products.
