What is the effect of moxibustion on Neiguan?

Moxibustion as a method of treatment has existed since ancient times. The material chosen for moxibustion is mugwort leaves. Old mugwort leaves are made into special materials, which are then burned and stimulated on the acupuncture points on the body surface, while regulating the physiological circulation of the entire body, thereby achieving the purpose of treating diseases. Moxibustion can treat a very wide range of diseases. For example, it can be used in gynecology, pediatrics, and andrology. There are many acupoints that can be selected for moxibustion, and Neiguan is one of them. The following is an introduction to the specific effects of moxibustion on Neiguan.

Indications of moxibustion at Neiguan acupoint: Since Neiguan acupoint is a collateral point of the pericardium meridian, connecting the upper, middle and lower burners, it can be used to treat palpitations, chest pain and tightness in the upper burner; stomach pain and vomiting in the middle burner; menstrual disorders and urinary system diseases in the lower burner. The most highly praised is the dual regulatory effect of Neiguan acupoint in the treatment of cardiovascular diseases. When the heart rate is fast, acupuncture can gradually return to normal. When the heart rate is slow, acupuncture can gradually increase the heart rate and recover. Therefore, the indications of Neiguan acupoint are quite wide.

Neiguan acupoint is one of the commonly used acupoints of the hand Jueyin pericardium meridian, which comes from "Lingshu Jingmai". It is located on the palm side of the forearm, on the line connecting Quze and Daling, 2 inches above the transverse wrist line, between the palmaris longus tendon and the radial flexor carpi tendon. It is commonly used in modern times to treat angina pectoris, myocarditis, arrhythmia, gastritis, hysteria, etc., with a vertical insertion of 0.5 to 1 inch.

Indications: Cardiothoracic diseases such as heartache, palpitations, chest tightness, chest pain; stomach diseases such as stomachache, vomiting, hiccups; mental diseases such as insomnia, epilepsy; local diseases such as upper limb pain, hemiplegia, finger numbness, etc. It is commonly used in modern times to treat angina pectoris, myocarditis, arrhythmia, gastritis, hysteria, etc.

Moxibustion can warm the yang, replenish qi, warm the meridians and dredge the collaterals. Regular moxibustion treatment can replenish the middle and benefit qi, and can eliminate blood stasis and disperse nodules. However, when performing moxibustion, you should be careful that exposed skin is generally not suitable for moxibustion, and the face should not be moxibustioned directly, otherwise it will easily lead to scars, which will have a great impact on the appearance.
