Elderly people should keep these things in mind when keeping healthy in winter

The elderly must pay attention to health issues in winter, which is beneficial to their health. The first thing everyone needs to pay attention to is to maintain a regular life, a scientific diet, and proper exercise.

1. Live a regular life and have a regular routine

"Suwen. The Great Treatise on the Four Qi and the Regulation of the Spirit" states: In the three months of winter, go to bed early and get up late, and wait for the daylight. Go to bed early to nourish the body's yang energy and keep the body warm; get up late to nourish the milk energy; get up at sunrise to avoid the cold and seek warmth. Modern medicine also believes that people with cardiovascular and cerebrovascular diseases should pay attention to keeping warm. For example, coronary heart disease can easily induce angina pectoris and myocardial infarction due to cold. Clothing should be warm, loose and soft. Keep your feet warm, wash them with warm water before going to bed, and rub the soles of your feet 100-200 times to nourish the kidneys and strengthen the brain. In short, winter is the best time to nourish the body, strengthen the kidneys and aid yin in order to follow the will of nature. Keep warm and keep fit.

2. Scientific and reasonable diet

The kidney controls salty taste, and the heart controls bitter taste. Salt can overcome bitterness, so in winter, the taste of food should be less salty and more bitter to replenish heart qi and strengthen kidney qi. Food should be warm but not too hot. Avoid eating raw, cold, sticky and hard foods to prevent damage to the spleen and stomach. As the saying goes: Don't eat empty stomach in winter morning and don't eat full stomach in summer night. Therefore, you can stew ginger and take a little in the morning to drive away the wind and keep out the cold. You should also pay attention to the intake of vitamin A, vitamin B2, and vitamin C, and eat appropriate amounts of carrots, rapeseed, spinach, mung bean sprouts, dates, walnut kernels, etc. Traditional Chinese medicine believes that food supplements are worse than medicine supplements. People with yin deficiency should eat more mutton, chicken and goose meat to replenish qi, nourish the stomach and produce body fluids.

3. Strengthen exercise and improve physical fitness

Traditional Chinese medicine has always held that food supplements are not as good as qi supplements. If you exercise in the winter, you will have fewer illnesses; if you are lazy in the winter, you will have to drink more medicine. Replenishing qi or moving around is exercise. A simple and easy method is: tap your teeth about 50 times in the morning or before going to bed, rotate your tongue 5 circles left and right in your mouth, gargle about 40 times, and swallow the saliva into your dantian two or three times. After regulating your breathing and entering a state of tranquility, practice the blowing word exercise about 40 times. When inhaling, lift your hands from the back of your waist to your chest and shrug your shoulders. When exhaling, say the word "blow" (silently), tighten your anus and abdomen, grip the ground with your toes, drop your hands from your chest to your knees, and bend your knees and half squat. Then, reach for your feet with both hands, stand or with straight legs, press down on the instep of your feet or grab your toes with both hands, pause for a moment, and repeat slowly about 10 times. Rub your waist 50-100 times again, and finally walk backwards for about half an hour. You can also learn Tai Chi, clapping exercises, meridian-dredging exercises, etc.; or do other sports such as jogging, walking, water skiing, skipping rope, and ball games.
