What to do if your skin is dry after a burn

What to do if your skin is dry after a burn

When it comes to burns, the most common one is being burned by hot oil or boiling water while cooking, and the arms and thighs are often the most vulnerable parts. It can be said that burns, no matter how big or small, are painful. When hands or feet are scalded by hot oil or water, the skin immediately turns red and feels hot and uncomfortable. Soaking the burned area in cold water can make it feel comfortable for a while, but you cannot soak it in water all the time. So, here are some guidelines for treating burns for you to keep!

When you are burned, flushing the burned area with cold water in time is the best way to deal with it, but it also needs to be analyzed according to the specific situation:

1. If the burn is shallow, rinse repeatedly with clean cool water for 10-20 minutes. Household tap water can be used.

2. If the burn is severe or covers a large area, do not rinse it directly with cold water. It is best to cover the burned area with a clean towel before rinsing.

3. If the burned area is inconvenient to rinse, such as the head, you can apply a clean towel dipped in cold water to the burned area.

4. If you are wearing thick clothes when you are scalded, do not take off your clothes blindly. It is very likely that the burned skin will be pulled off directly, so you should rinse it with cold water first and then carefully remove the clothes.

As to whether or not to pop the blisters caused by burns, everyone has their own opinion. Some say they should be popped, while others say they should not be popped. This question of course also requires specific analysis of specific issues:

1. If the burn area is small, there is generally no need to puncture the wound, and the wound can heal itself.

2. If the burn area is large or the blisters are large, they need to be punctured because they are easy to burst. If you encounter this situation, you can first disinfect with alcohol, then use a sterilized needle or scissors to poke a small hole in the blister, squeeze out the water with a sterile cotton swab, then clean the wound with saline, and finally bandage it.

3. If black eschar has appeared on the burned area, do not easily pop the blisters and eschar, because the situation is already very serious and requires treatment in the hospital.
